Preschool is held from 8:30 AM to 12:45 PM. There is no extra charge for preschool.
8:30 - 9:00 Open play time. Children build social/emotional and language skills while playing.
9:00 - 10:00 Circle time starts with a good morning song, followed by calendar and ABC’s. All children do a craft. Children 4 years old or older do kindergarten readiness workbooks. We cook as a class at least once a week.
Circle time activities teach children:
- To listen, sit still, and understand the spoken language.
- To wait when others are speaking
- Names
- Help plan future activities
- How to add their own ideas to a discussion
- New vocabulary
We try to have 3-4 planned crafts a week
10:00 - 10:30
AM Snack Children read as we wait for everyone to finish.
10:30 - 11:15 Outside or Large motor Play. Children play on the climbers, slides, and swings. During winter we have sleds. We play games and use our imagination.
11:30 - 11:45 TV time as we wash and prepare for lunch.
11:45 - 12:45 Children serve themselves lunch. We pass the food around and take a little of everything. Children taste everything. If they do to like it they move on to something else. Children may have more of what they like. We talk and have fun while we eat. The children enjoy cleaning up when they are done.
12:45 - 1:00 Children prepare their nap spots and get comfortable.
Craft materials are available all day long. Children color with crayons, markers, and colored pencils. They cut and glue. Stickers are in a case they can get. They write letters with pencils and pens. Paint is used with supervision.
